Privacy policy

Short version: this website does not collect your personal information. There are no advertising trackers, and nothing you type here is stored on our website.

The enquiry form

When you fill in the enquiry form and press send, the form does not transmit anything to our website. It opens your own email program with the details already written out, and you press send yourself. Your enquiry travels as an ordinary email from you to us.

That means we receive whatever you chose to put in it - typically your name, your email address, the route you are interested in, your rough dates, how many riders, and anything you told us about your trip.

What we do with it

We use it to answer you and to plan your ride. If you book, we use it to make the arrangements - which for rides in Tibet means passing the details needed for permits to the Chinese authorities, and passing your name and dates to the hotels, guides and transport we book on your behalf. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it.

If you contacted us through a travel agency in your own country, we deal with that agency as well as with you.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept while there is a live conversation and then deleted. Booking records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules in China require.

Visitor numbers

We count how many people visit the site, which pages they read, and roughly which country they are in. This is done by Cloudflare, who host the website. It does not place cookies on your device, it does not follow you to other websites, and it does not identify you individually - which is why this site has no cookie pop-up.

Fonts

The typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. As with any file your browser requests from another company, Google can see the internet address you are connecting from. We do not receive that information.

Your rights

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Union or the European Economic Area, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to ask us to delete it. Write to hello@chinamotorcycletravel.com and we will respond within one month.

Please note that once a booking is underway, some information cannot be deleted on request - permit applications already lodged with the Chinese authorities are outside our control, and accounting records must be kept by law.

Children

This website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information about them.
